Apple iPhone 8 News: Tenth-Anniversary Phone May Have Facial Recognition

Apple's tenth-anniversary phone receives so many rumors every day. Fans are eagerly waiting for Apple iPhone 8 release especially after knowing that it would come with an edge-to-edge OLED display. There will be many changes in this iPhone as Apple's traditional home button will not be there in iPhone 8.

There is no official statement from Apple yet so iPhone 8 may or may not arrive in 2017. Last year, Apple launched iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and according to its tradition, Apple is supposed to launch iPhone 7S and 7S Plus this year. But on this special occasion of Apple's tenth anniversary, Apple may change its tradition by launching most speculated Apple iPhone 8.

According to Digital Trends, Apple might name the speculated phone as the iPhone Edition. Apple named its expensive Apple Watch made from precious metals, the Watch Edition. Apple iPhone 8 is a special edition due to its cutting-edge technology, the first time in any iPhone. The other name being rumored is the iPhone X.

Apple iPhone 8 will have a 5.8-inch OLED screen without bezels, mounted in a body made of stainless steel. Home button will be replaced by new touch technology under the screen. Also, the volume and sleep/wake keys might be replaced by touch-sensitive panels. The latest rumors suggest that there will be a 3D-sensing camera that will be used for facial recognition or augmented reality.

As written in BGR, an interesting new research report from Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri relays that Apple's next-gen iPhone might also include a new form of user input based on facial recognition technology. He said Apple iPhone 8 might include some form of facial/gesture recognition supported by a new laser sensor and an infrared sensor mounted near the front-facing camera.

Apple iPhone 8 is also expected to support wireless charging. It is rumored to have a curved and wraparound display. It's a new type of sensor technology would enable the phone to respond when the user touches any side of the device.

Currently, a 256 GB iPhone 7 Plus costs around $1000. Apple iPhone 8 is supposed to cost more than $1000. But with the features like this, iPhone 8 will break the sales record.
