Brexit Effect: UK Ban Imminent If Football Team Barca Reaches Finals

The Spanish team Barcelona is in a predicament. It is a troubling thought that the European issue Brexit can be detrimental to the group's current campaign.

While the political concern is on top of the disturbing list, Barcelona still needs to hurdle a primary challenge. It needs to overturn the four-goal deficit which the club incurred against Paris Saint-Germain.

Doing so will means entering the last 16 phase. More importantly, such scenario allows the soccer organization to gain a ticket into the finals of the Champions League.

Although fans and enthusiasts may have no doubt that Barcelona will be able to withstand the barriers ahead, the immediate difficulty lies in the technical implications of the game. Cardiff in UK will be hosting the final match.

Earlier, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin is very much concerned about the implications of London leaving the European Union. He shares that it will certainly affect Britain's role in hosting tournaments.

The executive's worry is not without basis. Just recently, PSG defender Serge Aurier has been banned from playing during a match against Arsenal in the UK last November. It can be recalled that the player concerned has been convicted on assault charges inside the country.

In case Barcelona gets into the finals, a couple of high-profile players on the Spanish squad will be targeted. It is perceived that Argentina's Lionel Messi and Brazil's Neymar Santos Jr. will be denied entry into the UK due to the players' tax evasion issues.

Presently, Britain is set to host both the semi-final and the final phases of Euro 2020 in Wembley. However, if the Brexit gets implemented, England will most likely be out of contention in hosting the Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup.

According to Ceferin, it will be quite disturbing to know that English players can travel around while other team members cannot even set foot on British soil. He adds that the Brexit issue will not only affect player movements across Europe. Fans will also be included in the restrictions.
