The Mayweather vs McGregor fight drama has once again taken another surprising turn as the undefeated boxing champion dismissed rumors that a deal is about to happen. Floyd Mayweather took to Twitter to shut down rumors about an impending McGregor bout.
RollingStone has tagged the continuous Mayweather vs McGregor fight deal drama as the most confusing soap opera in sports. Both fighters seem to be excited in the past about the idea of facing each other inside the boxing ring. However, both fighters are also quick to change tone every time a news that a deal is about to get done is reported.
ESPN has reported that Mayweather told Stephen A. Smith that the McGregor vs Mayweather fight is very close from happening. The report was made just as Conor McGregor is said to be arriving in Las Vegas where Mayweather lives and trains.
However, just a few hours after he made the statement, Mayweather immediately recanted his statement and announced through his twitter page that no deals have been made on his behalf. The undefeated boxing champion even said that he is happily retired.
To add more fuel to the ongoing war of words between Mayweather and McGregor, the Irish UFC champion posted a tweet that seemed to throw a jab at Mayweather's happily retired statement. "I am in Las Vegas," McGregor said in his tweet, "Floyd has retired on my arrival,"
Not to be outdone, Mayweather immediately turned 360 in a matter of minutes as he called out McGregor to take care of his business in the UFC and have his people get in touch with Mayweather's people to get the fight done.
With the recent flip-flop in the tone of both fighters, a very close deal may not really be close to getting done when it comes to the much-hyped Mayweather vs McGregor bout. The only time that a deal can be called really close is when both fighters already decide to put ink on paper.
