U.S. women's soccer coach Tom Sermanni says his firing came as a surprise, one year before 2015 World Cup

The U.S. Soccer Federation decided to part ways with women's national coach Tom Sermanni, whose team had its worst showing at the Algarve Cup last month with a seventh-place performance. The U.S. was on a 43-game streak prior to the two losses it suffered in the Algarve Cup.
