Miami Heat players don't want the team to sign Danny Granger, who is expected to be bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers any day now after being acquired from the rival Indiana Pacers just before last week's trade deadline.

The Miami Herald reports Heat players are instead imploring management to seek a deal with veteran Caron Butler, also expected to soon be a free-agent after being bought out in Milwaukee.

Heat players have a history with Granger, who in the past has irritated LeBron James and other Heat players by getting in their faces after foul calls at the Heat of their 2012 playoff series. At the time, James called his actions "stupid."

The Herald also reports Butler is close friends Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, stemming from their days Heat teammates. Granger, 6-8, is shooting just 35.9 percent; Butler, 6-7, is shooting only 38.7 percent. But players guarded by Granger are shooting 30.9 percent, compared with 47 percent for Butler.

"They're very comparable," an Eastern Conference told The Herald."Granger is better off the ball, Butler a little tougher."

The team is also rumored to hold at least preliminary interest in guards Ben Gordon and Shannon Brown, also soon expected to be on the open market as free agents.
