Just over a month after being shipped there, the Cleveland Cavaliers have placed veteran forward LuoL Deng on the trading block, according to ESPN.
The Cavs traded three future draft picks and center Andrew Bynum to Chicago for Deng on Jan. 7, but have already grown leery Deng might not be looking to stay there long term. The veteran forward can become a free agent at the end of the season and has already hinted he might be ready to move after a month in coach Mike Brown's chaotic system.
Playing for a team other than Chicago for the first time, Deng has also found fitting in a challenge. He's averaging just 14.6 points on 41 percent shooting in 18 games with the Cavs, a big dip from his numbers in Chicago, where he became a primary scoring-option after Derrick Rose was lost for the year with a knee injury.
Expected to be a playoff team even before acquiring the versatile Deng, the Cavs have struggled mightily all season long, currently rank as the Eastern Conference's No. 10 seed at 21-33.
ESPN predicts getting value for Deng may be a challenge based on his expiring contract. He cannot be packaged with another Cavs player in a deal due to trade rules.
Several teams with cap space this summer have already expressed interest in Deng, among them the Lakers and Mavs.
