San Francisco 49ers star quarterback Colin Kaepernick insists his teammates don't care about sexuality, and are only driven by helping one another win games.

CBS Sports quotes Kaepernick as insisting sexual orientation is right up there with skin color and religious preference in terms of being non-issues in the locker room for him and his teammates.

When directly asked about Missouri's Michael Sam, who recently admitted he is gay and is seeking to become the NFL's first openly homosexual player, Kaepernick added "I think when he steps into that locker room, everyone's going to know that he's there to help win games. "And that's why you're in the NFL, to help us win games. No one cares if you're black, white, straight, gay, Christian, Jewish, whatever it may be."

Kaepernick later added he's convinced as long as Sam proves capable of doing the job he won't have any added locker room issues. "When you step on that field, you're a member of the team," he said. "That's your job. That's your occupation."

Over the last several weeks, Kaepernick has faced questions about his own sexaulity after reportedly being spotted getting "cozy and comfortable" with an openly gay performer during Super Bowl week.

According to Queerty.com, Kaepernick and DJ Luis Perez took several pictures together at the Sports Illustrated Super Bowl party in Atlanta that Perez later posted on Facebook under the caption "Super Bowl 2014 #goodtobebad with Colin Kaepernick."

Kaepernick, 26, has previously been romantically linked to actress Sanaa Lathan and was recently GQ magazine's "most stylish man in the NFL."
