Syracuse freshman Tyler Ennis of Syracuse is getting some national attention after his buzzer-beating shot that catapulted the Orange to a 58-56 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Count on US Vice President Joe Biden as among those who have congratulated Ennis on his shot.

The Associated Press through ESPN.com is reporting that the second highest US official called the freshman guard on Thursday to congratulate the Syracuse player on his "amazing 35-foot buzzer-beater" that's sustained the Orange's winning streak. More surprisingly, the VP's office tweeted a picture of the official at his desk while talking on the phone with Ennis.

Biden has a law degree from Syracuse.

According to Sportsline.com, Biden is a loyal fan of the Orange. The VP even showed his allegiance to his Alma Mater recently when he wore a shirt that bore the message: "BEAT DUKE" before the Orange's exciting overtime win over the Blue Devils.
Ennis has become the toast of the college basketball community especially fans of Syracuse after his shot from 35 feet that kept the Orange winning streak alive. With his team trailing by one with 4.4 seconds left, he took an inbounds pass, dribbled across the midcourt and somehow got by two defenders. He launched a high-arching shot that went through the basket as time expired.

After the game, Syracuse coach Jim Boehim told Sportsline: "He had his worst game tonight all year. We tried to go to C.J. [Fair]. They played him (Ennis), they didn't just let him dribble down."

He added: "You gotta be a little lucky, and that was a little lucky, but you still gotta shoot it."
