Richie Incognito finally erupted at Jonathan Martin, lashing out at his Miami Dolphins teammate with accusations of betrayal over Martin's own accusations of being a victim of Incognito's bullying.
If a report that surfaced Wednesday night comes to fruition, just imagine the response Incognito potentially could unleash on Twitter.
NFL.com's Ian Rappaport tweeted on his own account and had tweets posted on the NFL Media PR Twitter account that a possibility exists for Martin's return to the Dolphins.
Rappaport tweeted on his account first, saying, "#Dolphins OT Jonathan Martin wants to play football in 2014. His reps have had some talks with MIA recently. Not impossible he returns there."
To which Rotoworld NFL writer Nick Mensio responded, "I'll eat 3 pinecones if he plays for Fins again RT @RapSheet #Dolphins OT Jon Martin wants to play in 2014. Not impossible he returns to MIA."
The first tweet attributed to Rappaport on the NFL Media PR Twitter (@InsideNFLMedia) read: ".@RapSheet on Martin: "I am told he does in fact want to play in 2014; he is excited about it."
That was followed by: ".@RapSheet on Martin: "I am also told that his people have been in contact with the Dolphins on some level over the past couple weeks."
Followed by the final bombshell: ".@RapSheet: "I am told it is not outside the realm of possibility that Martin does return to the Dolphins when it's all said and done."
According to USA TODAY Sports, prominent attorney Ted Wells, who is conducting an independent probe into the Dolphins' workplace environment, is expected to release his results next week.
If that report were to support Martin's accusations, it's conceivable the Dolphins would, at least publicly, make an attempt to give Martin the option of returning. Anything short of that would make a Martin return to Miami unlikely, given his airing of his football family's dirty laundry.
But even the suggestion that Martin could return to the Dolphins suggests that the investigation may be more favorable to him than most experts anticipate.
