With the New York Knicks struggling this season, a roster shakeup could be coming soon as the team prepares to try to retain Carmelo Anthony through free agency, and reports indicate that there are rumors of a possible trade with the Boston Celtics that would send Amar'e Stoudemire to Boston in exchange for Rajon Rondo.

According to the Latino Post, team insiders on the Knicks believe that the only way to persuade Anthony to stay this summer is to make a deal for another superstar, and Rondo fits the bill.

According to the report, it may be unlikely that the Celtics would deal Rondo before the Feb. 20 deadline since Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge seems intent on keeping the All-Star. USA Today reports that the Knicks are still confident that Boston would deal Rondo for the right price, and they are planning to offer a package involving Stoudemire.

"They can offer the likes of Amar'e Stoudemire (one season remaining after this one, at $23.4 million) while taking future money back (such as Gerald Wallace and/or Jeff Green) and helping Ainge clear the way for the summer of 2015 that is known to be a priority of his," USA Today reported.

Stoudemire is averaging 9.8 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19.2 minutes a game.

The Knicks have also been interested in landing Kyle Lowry, according to the Latino Post, but the team believes that the Toronto Raptors are asking for too much in return. Lowry, who is averaging 16.6 points and 7.4 assists per game this season, was almost a Knick last year until team owner James Dolan nixed the deal with the Raptors after they insisted that he added a future first-round pick to the deal.

With the deadline coming on Feb. 20 and the Knicks sitting at 20-31, the team could be ready to make a deal soon.
