It's a good thing Rory McIlroy has nothing to do with Caroline Wozniacki's tennis career: Their engagement would never last.

Tennis.SI.com reported Thursday that Wozniacki has fired coach Thomas Hogstedt after just three months. She hired him at the end of October, just four months after Maria Sharapova ended their three-year relationship.

Wozniacki, who got engaged to golf star McIlroy on New Year's Eve, worked with Hogstedt for just two tournaments, Tennis.SI.com reported. The former No. 1 women's tennis player lost in the second round of the Sydney International to Luce Safarova in straight sets, then advanced only to the third round of the Australian Open before losing to Garbine Muguruza in three sets.

According to the report, Wozniacki and Hogstedt never built any kind of rapport -- as evidenced by Hogstedt going on vacation instead of accompanying Wozniacki to Dubai to train.

At the time of his hire, Tennis.SI.com reported that Hogstedt was in demand and that his presence was "a very positive hire for her, coming at a crucial time in her career."

Wozniacki became the No. 1 player in the world in October of 2010 and held the spot for 16 months despite never reaching a Grand Slam final. She has won only three tournaments since and dropped to No. 10 in the world in 2013.

Hogstedt is just the latest in a list of short-time coaches on Wozniacki's resumé, according to Tennis.SI.com. Her father, Piotr, has coached Wozniacki most of her career, but she has tried outside help. Ricardo Sanchez, who coached Jelena Jankovic to No. 1, lasted two months.

Wozniacki fired him in February, 2012, after a quarterfinals loss to Kim Clijsters in the Australian Open quarterfinals. Wozniacki also worked with Thomas Johannson, a relationship that lasted four months last summer.

The Danish website Ekstra Bladet reported that Wozniacki may have already hired Hogstedt's successor, but that name has yet to be revealed.
