Defending Olympic skiing gold medalist Lindsey Vonn has agreed to join NBC as a correspondent for the upcoming Sochi Games after a second knee surgery forced her to withdraw from competition.

According to TODAY.com, the girlfriend of world top-ranked golfer Tiger Woods will air daily reports from the U.S. for TODAY and and NBC Sports. The website added "as the games unfold, Vonn will share her unique perspective on the events and the competition from an Olympian's point of view."

In her first interview since deciding to withdraw from competition, Vonn will appear on TODAY Tuesday, Jan. 28, to discuss her new gig and provide viewers with an update on her training and rehabilitation stemming from a right knee injury she reaggravated late last month.

In the days leading up to the Opening Ceremony, the website reports Vonn will file live reports delving into how the athletes prepare physically and mentally for the Games, while also sharing memories of her fondest Olympic moments.

In addition, after the games formally commence the 29-year-old Vonn will interact with fans and viewers on Facebook, as they have the opportunity to ask her direct questions in real time.
