It has been rumored for the past couple of months that Bill Goldberg will return to the WWE for a match at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and that his rumored opponent would be Ryback, and while the speculation was that Goldberg and the WWE have been in negotiations, Goldberg denied it on his Twitter account.

When asked about the rumored negotiations, Goldberg said, "Contrary to popular belief, there have been no negotiations." It's unclear if Goldberg means he hasn't negotiated at all or if he hasn't had any recent negotiations because Goldberg himself said a few months ago that he had been in talks with Triple H and the WWE about a return.

Goldberg confirmed in November at the C4 Comic Con event in Winnipeg that he and Triple H had indeed met and tried to negotiate a deal but couldn't get anything done as Goldberg's financial demand for a return match was "very significant." Goldberg was also reportedly turned off by the WWE's negotiating tactic of, "think of the pop you'll get" for a return.

It was reported this week that the WWE ended negotiations with Goldberg since they were still far apart on the price for what it would take to land Goldberg for a WrestleMania XXX match against Ryback. This halt in talks could be what Goldberg was referring to rather than the fact that there have never been talks since Goldberg himself said that they had talked in the past.

It's possible that Goldberg is willing to return but is trying to throw fans off in order to swerve them for a surprise return, but if the reports of the WWE not liking his demands and Goldberg not being willing to negotiate a lesser amount are true, Ryback will likely have something else to do come WrestleMania XXX.

Ryback has discussed facing Goldberg in the past--including on a radio show in November.

"I have a great amount of respect for Bill Goldberg, but I'm not going to beat around the bush and say I wanna be best friends with the guy," he said on the Felger & Mazz Radio Show in November, according to CBS. "I'd like to face him in the ring. I've heard him say he's not happy with comments I've made about him, if he has a problem with it let's settle it at WrestleMania"

It seems for now at least, Bill Goldberg won't be appearing at WrestleMania XXX.
