It's crunch time again for hard-luck U.S. Olympian Lolo Jones.
Jones has been chosen to compete in the final World Cup women's bobsled event Sunday in Igls, Austria, according to OlympicTalk.NBCSports.com. The race precludes the selection process for the three U.S. two-woman bobsled teams that will compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in February.
Jones, trying to make the squad as a push athlete, will be paired with USA-3 driver Jazmine Fenlator. USA-1 driver Elana Meyers will compete with her usual push partner, Aja Evans, and USA-2 driver Jamie Greubel will team up with Jones' fellow track-crossover push athlete Lauren Williams.
Meyers and Evans are expected to comprise one of the three U.S. sleds competing in Sochi. Greubel's usual partner, Katie Eberling, and Emily Azevedo - the only push athlete with Winter Olympics experience, are the others competing for an Olympic spot.
It has been a two-year quest for Jones, who missed out on a bronze medal in the 100-meter hurdles at 2012 Summer Olympics in London by one-tenth of a second.
But it was her run in 2008 in the Seoul Olympics that was her worst break. The favorite to win the 100-meter hurdles, Jones led the race until she clipped the next to last hurdle. The mistake relegated her to a seventh-place finish.
Jones sat out last weekend's World Cup race in St. Moritz, Switzerland but teamed with Meyers to finish second in a World Cup event in Winterberg, Germany on Jan. 5. It was Jones' second second-place finish in the World Cup events this season.
