Georgia Tech's option and run-heavy offense has an opportunity to produce a 1,000-yard rusher for the first time since Anthony Allen ran wild in 2010; David Sims enters today's game having amassed 846 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.

The Rebels also have a fairly potent rushing attack, featuring I'Tavius Mathers and Jeff Scott, who've combined for just shy of 1,000 yards. Ole Miss managed an impressive four-game winning streak this year in the tough SEC to get to seven wins, earning them their second bowl game appearance in two seasons under head coach Hugh Freeze.

He has energized the Ole Miss fan base and expects a lot of Rebels fans in enemy territory. "I appreciate the unbelievable support Rebel Nation has provided our team, and I look forward to seeing a sea of Red and Blue in Nashville," said Freeze.

Still, the game is basically in Georgia Tech's backyard, as head coach Paul Johnson acknowledged. "To play a bowl game within driving distance for our fans, and to play against a high-quality opponent in Ole Miss, is a great opportunity," Johnson said. "Ole Miss is a very talented football team and they are well-coached, so we certainly have our work cut out for us."

The two teams are evenly matched, with Georgia Tech putting up more points per game and allowing less than Ole Miss, but doing it in an ACC that is less loaded than the ACC. The Rebels are also still mentally wounded from losing a rivalry game to Mississippi State that they need to shake off.

"Of course it hurt," defensive back Dehendret Collins said. "You have to bounce back and get ready for the bowl game."
