Atlanta Falcons Stay Perfect with Rout of Eagles

The Atlanta Falcons beat the Philadelphia Eagles 30-17 on Sunday to remain unbeaten this season.

The Falcons are 7-0 and looking impressive, and are the only unbeaten team in the league.

Former Philadelphia Eagle, Asante Samuel was pretty boastful right from the start, after the Falcons' victory he said: "We're 7-0 over here baby. If I was over there now, they have to go to work." I love the fans. They can boo me. They can cheer for me. Doesn't do anything but add fuel to the fire."

The Eagles are now at 3-4 after losing Sunday's game.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said: "That was an embarrassing performance. I'm stating the obvious. We need to get better. I need to do a better job. This is fixable. We have the talent."

Matt Ryan looked impressive with 22 of 29 for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns for his first win against his hometown team.

Michael Vick with his ordinary performance was unable to beat his former team. When asked if he could be benched to make way for rookie Nick Foles, Vick said: "Whatever decision coach makes, I support it. I know I'm giving it everything I have when I'm out there."

The Eagles manager said he would think about making a quarterback change. In Sunday's game, however, it seemed the main problem with the Eagles was their defense.

The Falcons seemed to be enjoying their game. They looked focused and stuck to the basics.

Falcons coach Mike Smith said: "We like to have a lot of fun. We have a very mature group. We have a bunch of guys who are mentors. We're good at focusing on the task at hand. We're on point when we kick off and guys have done a good job focusing all season."

The Eagles, on the other hand, started impressively 3-1 however, lost three games in a row (3-4). Juan Castillo was fired by Reid when the Eagles blew their fourth quarter lead against Detroit. He was replaced with Bowles.

It did not work for the Eagles however. Castillo's defense allowed only 18.5 points per game as opposed to Bowels' 21 points in the first 24 minutes.

Reid said about the replacement: "I did what I did and what I thought was right at the time. We need to get better there."

A lot of Eagles fans anticipate this could be Reid's last season with the team. Owner Jeffrey Lurie had already made it abundantly clear prior to the season that another 8-8 finish, like last season, would be unacceptable.
