Kairi Sane's WWE comeback has been a rollercoaster since she returned at Crown Jewel 2023. Following the reunion of the Kabuki Warriors and winning the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship with Asuka, Sane's 99-day title reign was ended by Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.

Nevertheless, the fans have been left wondering where Sane was after her last sighting in December 2024.

Sane's inactivity on WWE television was explained in early 2025 when she shared a photo on Instagram. The photo was of her in a hospital bed with her right arm in a cast. While information is still limited, her caption "I'll get an arm of iron soon" indicates a serious injury, perhaps one that will need surgery.

If surgery is involved, her return would be pushed back months, leaving a gap in the women's division. Sane's technical skills and experience contribute a lot of value to the lineup, so her absence is deeply felt among fans and competitors alike.

Kairi Sane Struggled Without Asuka's Presence

Kairi Sane has always been most effective on the main roster when paired with Asuka, either as part of the Kabuki Warriors or alongside Damage CTRL. Unfortunately, Asuka has also been sidelined due to a knee injury that required surgery shortly after their tag team title loss at Backlash in France.

From May to December 2024, Sane floated without a compelling storyline, an issue that has long dogged her main roster career. Without Asuka to anchor her, Sane could not stay relevant, frequently finding herself stuck in all-women matches devoid of direction.

This layoff due to injury, though, maybe the best chance WWE can get to retool Sane's character and develop a new tale around which to bring her back.

Kairi Sane's Return May Create Two Possible Directions

When Kairi Sane finally returns, WWE has two possible directions to take her, according to The Sportster.

Rekindle the Kabuki Warriors with Asuka

The easiest thing to do is wait for Asuka's comeback and reunite the Kabuki Warriors to once again spark the women's tag team division. Although this tag team has been successful in the past, this combination threatens to be a rehash. Sane's fans might want more than a rerun of things.

Go after the Women's Intercontinental or United States Championship

Much more thrilling would be the path where Sane pursues the Women's Intercontinental or United States Championship. These new championships require solid contenders to validate their worth, and Sane's comeback could bring new life to the midcard division. This would allow Sane to perform her skills in substantial singles feuds and get a better understanding of connecting with the viewers.

WWE Needs to Maximize Kairi Sane's Potential

If WWE envisions a future world title reign in Sane's career path, then her path should start with being a top star in the midcard. The women's roster is filled to the brim with talent, and to stand out, Sane requires a consistent singles push that showcases her versatility and charm.
