John Cena's final WWE run is already on its way, and many want to be part of his one last run. One of the greatest Hall of Famer wrestlers, Bill Goldberg is proposing a marquee matchup with Cena before the latter retires in late 2025.

The 55-year-old fighter can give Cena one of the best retirement clashes of his lifetime only if WWE grants his one final wish.

Goldberg, the pioneer behind the "Jack Hammer," is hinting that he will return soon to the ring thanks to recent stem cell therapy. He is making sure that his grand exit won't be put to vain as he is reportedly on a regular training routine.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The Ariel Helwani Show, the former Universal Champion that he would like to face the new heel of WWE in his retirement tour.

Goldberg made it known that although he had worked for a long time, he never got the opportunity to clash with Cena, a match many fans would be eager to see happen.

"I never got a chance to get my hand around Cena's throat," Goldberg said. "That might have been cool. There are a lot of people I would have loved to have faced back in the day, but the fact is, what does that do for the business now?"

"A lot of people don't even remember me that watch wrestling right now," he added. "A lot of people don't know me because they speak negatively of me. I think I was an innovator of sorts. There are a plethora (of people)."

Goldberg admitted that most of the current fans won't recall his prime, but he's hellbent on making a lasting impression with his last run.

Potential Opponents for Goldberg's Retirement Match

Although Goldberg is willing to face any opponent, Cena would be the most compelling option. The possible confrontation between two all-time greats could be a gargantuan spectacle, attracting viewers from several generations.

ITR Wrestling reported that Goldberg also named Roman Reigns, with whom he had already clashed at Elimination Chamber 2022, and up-and-coming star Bron Breakker as other potential opponents.

"There are just so many guys who are so talented and on the verge of being a star if not yet, that are possibilities," Goldberg noted.

John Cena's Heel Turn Adds a New Twist

Cena, who surprised the WWE Universe with a heel turn in early 2025, has introduced a new twist to his continuing farewell tour.

Cena spoke to the audience during the March 17 episode of Monday Night Raw in Brussels, Belgium, as he clarified that his heel character was the result of years of ridicule by the audience.

The wrestler-turned-actor admitted that he was just a human being who was the subject of bullying. He even said that the fans were the ones who turned him into a heel.

Cena's heel turn has opened up a whole new story for his retirement process, and a possible confrontation with Goldberg would not only be a war of legends but also a clash of two different personas—Cena's new darker persona versus Goldberg's unrelenting intensity.

Will WWE Make It Happen?

With both Cena and Goldberg close to the tail-end of their careers, a bout between the two would be the perfect goodbye. WWE has always provided iconic greats with the send-off they deserve, and putting together Cena vs. Goldberg would most definitely attract record viewership and leave fans with a memory for ages.

It's now up to WWE's decision-makers to decide if they want to give the fans a dream match they've been waiting for. If it happens, Goldberg's farewell could be one of the most memorable events in wrestling history.
