Diana Taurasi, who has been hailed by fans as "the greatest of all time" in the WNBA, has announced her retirement.

Taurasi retires as the all-time leading scorer of the WNBA. She is likewise the all-time leader when it comes to three-pointers.

Her retirement was announced through an interview with Time Magazine.

"Mentally and physically, I'm just full," she said in the interview. "That's probably the best way I can describe it. I'm full and I'm happy."

LeBron James, Adam Silver Praise Diana Taurasi

In the same Time Magazine feature, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver sang praises for the WNBA player fans voted as the GOAT in 2021.

"You can't tell the story of the WNBA without Diana," he said. "She helped build the league into what it is today and inspired generations of fans and players, including many who have gone on to play in the WNBA."

Silver added, "Diana had an outsized role in the growth of women's basketball."

LeBron James, who is the all-time leading scorer in the NBA, is similarly full of praise for Taurasi.

"Just seeing her transcend the game, watching little girls want to play like her, her style, her flair, her bravado, you know, her swagger, it's been an unbelievable treat," he told Time. "She's one of the all-time greatest, and she will leave her mark on the game of basketball the moment she ties those shoes up and throws them over the pole line."

"It's been an honor," LeBron said. "All love."
