Arguably the best golfer of all time, Tiger Woods has experienced his fair share of memorable moments on the golf course, but this one may take the cake—for all the wrong reasons.

During a TGL game against the New York Golf Club, Woods committed what he would later describe as the "most embarrassing" error of his career, leaving fans and teammates stunned.

A 100-Yard Blunder Spells Disaster For Woods

According to SB Nation, it all unfolded on the 13th hole where Woods, required to provide his ailing team with a clutch shot, believed he was merely 99 yards from the green. Assuming this distance, he used his 56-degree sand wedge, which is his club for a 100-yard shot.

With assurance, Woods swung—only to watch his ball come up 100 yards short of the mark. Why? He wasn't 99 yards away. He was 199 yards out and had totally misheard his teammates, Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim.

'You Said 99, Not 199!' Was Woods' Shocked Reaction

The instant became comedy gold on the ESPN telecast. As the ball sailed up short, Woods looked at his teammates in stunned amazement.

"What's he doing?" Kisner could be heard saying.

"He's got a wedge!?"

Aghast, Woods then shouted, "You said 99 yards!?" before recognizing the gargantuan mistake.

Kim and Kisner couldn't stop laughing, and neither could the crowd of spectators. The error was so unlike the 15-time major champion that it became immediately the buzz of the match.

A Night to Forget for Woods and Jupiter Links Golf

Woods' Jupiter Links Golf team was already behind, seven points back at the time. The game ended in a 10-3 blowout defeat to the New York Golf Club, making the yardage mix-up just another lowlight in an otherwise forgettable evening.

But if there is a silver lining, it is that the error provided one of the most hilarious moments in the TGL season.

Not the First Time Woods Has Cracked Up on the Course

This is not the first viral moment Woods and his teammates have shared in TGL. Earlier in the match, Kisner shanked a greenside bunker shot that somehow bounced off the flagstick, leaving Woods crying tears of laughter.

Now it is Woods who is the focus of a viral moment, although for a decidedly different reason.

For spectators, however, it was just entertainment—and one of the most amusing moments of Woods' career.

This was Woods' first golf game since his mother Kultida passed away earlier this month.
