Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo now holds the world record for the fastest half marathon run.
The 24-year-old broke the record in Barcelona on Sunday after finishing the race after 56 minutes, 42 seconds. This is 48 seconds faster than the previous record, which was set by Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha.
Kejelcha's record was set just this past October.

Sky Sports reports that Kiplimo's performance has been touted as the greatest single improvement ever recorded on the world record.
Kiplimo also set another world best along the way, clocking in at 40:07 for 15 kilometers.
"It has been the perfect race. Ideal temperature, no wind at all, fantastic circuit, everything went better than expected," Kiplimo said, according to ESPN.
"I found myself full of energy and decided to inject a brisker rhythm from the third kilometer, but I never imagined to perform under the 57-minute barrier; that's astonishing," he added.
Where Will Kiplimo Run Next?
Kiplimo, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, is set to participate in the London Marathon. The London Marathon is scheduled to take place on April 27.
One of the most prestigious marathons across the globe, the London Marathon will be the first marathon Kiplimo will participate in.
