The Dallas Mavericks are doing the unthinkable—reimbursing season ticketholders who now no longer wish to retain seats after the team's blockbuster trade of Luka Doncic.

For die-hard Mavs fans, this season has been the most disappointing so far, especially for those who grew up watching Doncic. Never in their wildest dreams did they think that their franchise player would stray outside Texas.

Mavericks Fans Go Crazy Over Luka Doncic Trade

The NBA world wasn't fully ready when the Mavericks pulled off the most unexpected deal which sent their franchise superstar, Luka Doncic, to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis.

While Davis appears to be an untouchable piece and a future Hall of Famer, many Dallas fans were heartbroken over the departure of the 25-year-old phenom they expected to lead the team for years to come.

Season Ticket Holders Offered Refunds

The Mavericks have been said to start offering refunds to any season ticket holder who intends to get out of their plans, TMZ Sports learned. The team has no official word on this policy, but a statement provided to local media suggests the team's openness to appeasing frustrated fans.

"We value every season ticket member relationship and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions," the team said.

As per WFAA, one of the fans who called to cancel his Mavericks tickets received a refund for the remaining home games of the season. This shows that the organization is quietly making efforts to maintain good relations with its fans.

Tough Pill to Swallow for Dallas Fans

Losing Doncic is a massive blow to the Mavericks as he was not only the face of the franchise but also a five-time All-NBA First Team selection. His departure leaves a void in Dallas despite the addition of Anthony Davis, who remains one of the most dominant big men in the league.

It is difficult to look at a Mavericks fan who had envisioned Doncic spending his entire career in Dallas, much like Dirk Nowitzki. The Los Angeles Lakers' purple and gold being worn by him is a tough pill to swallow, perhaps one that can't even be fixed by a refund.

It's Time for Mavs to Move on With New Squad

But with Davis, Dallas has a star to build the franchise around while mourning the loss of their former superstar. The team would have to be smart in adding players to compete for a championship title. Kyrie Irving would take care of the backcourt business, but he still needs help from another guard to be more efficient.

Of course, the challenge would come in convincing the fans to enjoy this new regime after having lost Doncic to a division rival.

For now, some of the faithful Mavericks will take their refunds and go away, and others will hang in there to see what happens. In either case, this trade has changed the face of the franchise forever.
