Dallas Mavericks finally pulled the plug to send generational superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis in a surprising trade. Immediately, several analysts and many fans dubbed Dallas as the undisputed loser in the deal. But Metta World Peace, a former NBA champion, is saying differently.

In fact, Metta has made it very clear he doesn't think the Mavericks were the losers here.

How Anthony Davis Can Boost the Mavericks

As many critics would note, Dallas lost a franchise player in Doncic. Metta thinks Davis is dominant and will take this team over the top on both sides of the floor.

"I think both teams got what they wanted," World Peace told TMZ Sports. "I think everybody won."

Through injury concerns, Davis remains one of the league's best two-way players. According to Metta, his presence in Dallas will create better spacing and opportunities for star teammates like Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson.

For Metta, AD will help the Mavs get way more open looks. Since the defenses are drawn to Davis inside the paint, the shooters will have a higher chance to benefit from increased perimeter space.

As for Davis, he said that the Lakers will always have a home in his heart. The star center also said that he came to the team to win a championship. He added that he wouldn't forget the special moment they ever had in LA Town.

Luka Doncic Got Some Kobe Traits

Metta also went as far as to compare Doncic to Lakers icon Kobe Bryant, particularly for what he can do in LA. According to him, the Slovenian guard has some "Kobe traits" in him.

His ability to score, his court vision, and his leadership will make him an instant face of the franchise.

Merchandising Gold: Luka's Jersey Sales to Go Through yhe Roof

Off the court, Metta also says that with Doncic coming to town, massive jersey sales will also push the Lakers' global brand forward. An international fanbase combined with superstardom will make him an absolute marketing dream for the franchise.

While many still debate the fairness of the trade, Metta still stands firm on his belief that both teams made a move to help their franchise goals: the Lakers got Doncic as their long-term cornerstone, and the Mavericks got that dominant big man to complement the core they have.

The dust has settled, and all eyes will be on how these teams perform post-trade. Metta World Peace will be watching, and he's confident both franchises made the right move.
