Cori Clingman, the driver who was accused of causing the devastating crash that killed Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson and two others, now faces multiple criminal charges.

Maryland's Prince George's County State's Attorney announced Thursday that Clingman is charged with grossly negligent and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter. Additional charges include vehicular manslaughter for driving under the influence.

What Happened to the Fatal Crash

According to NBC News, the tragic car accident happened last July 6 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. According to officials, she was speeding when impaired in her Infiniti Q50 while lane changing and lost control, clipping Jackson's Dodge Charger. Then, Jackson's Dodge Charger veers off the road as it hits more than one tree.

The deceased were Khyree Jackson, 24, and passenger Isaiah Hazel, 23. Another passenger, Anthony Lytton Jr., 24, died in a hospital nearby.

"Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team. His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him. In our short time together, it was evident Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player, but what was more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him," Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said on X.

Clingman to Face Bond Hearing Soon

Clingman was taken into custody on Thursday without any trouble, and officials announced that she would be appearing in a bond hearing soon. Charges against her demonstrate the gravity of the actions, leaving a strong impression on the football community.

Khyree Jackson Tribute

Shocking the entire world of football - both in college and the National Football League, Khyree Jackson's early death has set off shock waves, with the Minnesota Vikings honoring the talented cornerback they drafted in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft with helmet decals all season and paying for his funeral, TMZ Sports reports.

Oregon University, which Jackson attended and graduated from, honored him through tribute in celebrating his fabulous contributions to college football.

A Bright Future Cut Short

Jackson, a Maryland native, had shown immense promise after a standout final season at Oregon. His skills and determination earned him a spot on the Vikings roster, and his potential as a key player in the NFL was undeniable.

The tragedy reminds us of the price of drunk driving. The loss of Jackson, Hazel, and Lytton won't be easy to forget for the families, teammates, and the entire football fraternity.

Last year, Demarcus Robinson of the Rams was arrested for DUI. A month later, Viking's WR Jordan Addison faced two misdemeanor DUI charges but pleaded not guilty later.
