Patrick Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl MVP, has publicly acknowledged a controversial flop during the Kansas City Chiefs' playoff victory over the Houston Texans.

Appearing on 96.5 The Fan's "The Drive" on Wednesday, Mahomes admitted that his exaggerated reaction on the sideline went too far.

Speaking to 96.5 The Fan's "The Drive," Mahomes stated that he understood when the ref saw his action and didn't immediately throw a flag. He knew that he should not have done that in the first place.

"I would say the only one I felt like I probably did too much was the one on the sideline where I didn't get the flag."

Justifying the Unnecessary Roughness Penalty

While acknowledging the excessive nature of the sideline flop, Mahomes defended an earlier play that drew an unnecessary roughness penalty. According to TMZ Sports, the Kansas City Chief's quarterback explained that he acted to protect himself from a potential serious injury.

Dismissing Favoritism Accusations

Mahomes dismissed the notion of receiving preferential treatment from referees. He emphasized that criticism and speculation are inevitable regardless of on-field performance.

Refs Are Doing Their Best

Mahomes expressed confidence in the officiating crew, stating that they strive to do their best in every game. He also pointed out that the outcome of the game was not significantly impacted by any single call.

Following his public acknowledgment, it will be interesting to observe any adjustments Mahomes may make to his on-field demeanor as he leads the Chiefs in their pursuit of another Super Bowl championship.

Last month, Mahomes said that he was laser-focused on stopping Myles Garret of the Cleveland Browns. Since Kansas needed more wins to stay on top of the AFC West, they should double their effort to neutralize the defensive giant of the team.
