Brian Matusz was considered one of the top prospects for the MLB with his pick at No. 4 in the 2008 MLB Draft. He entered the Baltimore Orioles system in 2009 and really showed some great promise early. In his first full season of 2010, Brian posted a 10-12 record with a 4.30 ERA and 143 strikeouts to show he could be a good, dependable starting pitcher.

After 2013, Matusz became a full-time reliever, throwing three outstanding seasons for the Orioles' bullpen. He showed himself to be adaptable by later pitching for the Chicago Cubs.

In over 280 appearances in his MLB career, Matusz compiled 462 strikeouts along with a 4.92 ERA. The last game he played in the major leagues was for the Cubs during the 2016 season as part of a seven-year career that combined elements of promise and perseverance.
