The NBA's most popular prospect, Bronny James, son of one of the greatest players of today's basketball, LeBron James-starts the journey to the G League. Well, it seems that Kenyon Martin's belief that Bronny will thrive in the NBA alone in his early year is wrong.
According to reports, he is going to spend time between the Los Angeles Lakers and their developmental affiliate, South Bay Lakers. The rookie will be split into both places with a view to experiencing real games and getting accustomed to the pro game.
Lakers Send Bronny James to G-League
NBA insider Shams Charania recently broke the news, revealing Bronny received the call on Thursday to join South Bay. According to TMZ, he is slated to make his appearance for them Saturday against Salt Lake City, coming off of a stint with the Lakers' main club Friday in their game at home against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Development Plan: Balance Minutes Across Both Teams
According to Charania, the Lakers' plan is to ensure that Bronny plays only South Bay's home games, so both teams will distribute his minutes. In this way, the idea is to give the young player consistent court time without overwhelming him in his first season.
Bronny has already featured in his first game in the NBA playing alongside his dad, in the opening night, and scoring his first-ever points against the team close to home, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
So far, in his four appearances in the NBA, Bronny is managing meager statistics-3.2 minutes, 1 point, 0.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game.
Bronny's Development is the Goal of the Lakers
That is no surprise as head coach of Lakers JJ Redick said prior to the season that Bronny would get playing time in South Bay to ease the transition toward the NBA. That way, Bronny will hone his skills and build up even more confidence before possibly someday becoming a member of the primary Lakers roster.
Well, Charles Barkley got the last laugh since he's right that the young James should have been in the G-League first before he jumped to the NBA. Last month, he said that the rookie is not yet ready to play on a bigger stage.
Bronny James' G-League Debut is Sold Out
For fans who want to see Bronny in action in his first-ever game as a South Bay Lakers player, there's sad news for you. Unfortunately, tickets for the Lakers vs Salt Lake City Stars were gone in just a few hours.
You can still buy tickets on the secondary market, but prepare at least $200 just for it.
