The Football Association (The FA), the governing body for the England men's national football team, has made a significant decision regarding the future of manager Gareth Southgate.
The 53-year-old manager has the backing of The FA to continue in his role for the foreseeable future, regardless of the outcome of the upcoming UEFA Euro 2024 final, where they are set to face Spain.
Southgate is expected to lead England on the path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, if he accepts a new contract, as his current deal expires in December.
"Emotionally, it would be impossible for me to make a logical decision at the moment on any of that because my sole focus for two years has been winning this tournament," Southgate told Sky Sports when asked if he would step down as England manager if they win the Euros.
England will face Spain in the UEFA Euro 2024 final on Sunday, July 14, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.

Southgate was under pressure for much of the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament after receiving jeers from England fans due to the team's uninspired performances despite advancing to the final.
The Watford-born manager has since become the most successful tactician in the national team's modern era. He was the first to lead England to a major final since 1966. He took the team to the Euro 2020 final (held in 2021) and has followed it up again this year.
England is looking to win its second major trophy since claiming the 1966 FIFA World Cup under Sir Alf Ramsey.
