Former quarterback Cam Newton, best known for his time with the Carolina Panthers, spoke on the frequent comparisons between him and Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson.

The 35-year-old spoke on his own "4th and 1" podcast, where he was asked if he sees himself as the greatest dual-threat quarterback of all time or if he has someone else in mind.

Newton didn't hesitate to declare that he considers the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player worthy of the title.

"Lamar's style is different than mine. He's got big plays, any play. He's got speed that I never had. And he's just a legend. And then, I played the game more powerful. I can run, but I'm going to probably get caught. Vick, Lamar, they ain't getting caught,"

Newton is the NFL leader in career quarterback rushing touchdowns and ranks second in career quarterback rushing yards.

The three-time Pro Bowl selection also holds the record for the most rushing touchdowns ever by a quarterback with 75 and the most games with both a passing and rushing touchdown with 32.

Cam Newton was one of the league's best QBs

Newton was one of the best quarterbacks in the league during his prime, leading the Panthers to a Super Bowl 50 appearance during the 2015 season.

During that campaign, he was also named the NFL Most Valuable Player and a First Team All-Pro selection. However, the team ultimately fell short in the championship game, losing in a blowout 24-10 to the Denver Broncos.

Injuries hampered the latter parts of Newton's career, and he had a short tenure with the New England Patriots in 2020 before returning to the Panthers in 2021, his latest NFL stint.
