The Portland Trail Blazers are currently rebuilding their roster with young, talented players to compete in the future.
Thus, they may be looking to deal one of their promising guards this summer due to a surplus of talent at the position.
"Anfernee Simons' status is worth keeping an eye on. On draft night, Cronin said the Blazers are 'committed' to building around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, and didn't mention Simons' name," team insider Sean Highkin wrote on The Rose Garden Report.
Simons will be entering his seventh season in the NBA in 2024-25 after the team selected him with the 24th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft.

"At his end-of-season exit interview in April, [Simons] said he wants 'the opportunity to win,' which is very plainly not where the Blazers are right now or will be in the next few years," Highkin added.
Anfernee Simons is on a $100 million contract
Simons, who won the 2021 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, is halfway through a four-year contract worth $100 million signed during the summer of 2022.
The 6-foot-3 player's contract will last until the 2025-26 season, and he will make around $25.8 million in 2024-25.
The 25-year-old's career timeline as he nears his prime may not align with the growing pains of the team's recent lottery picks.
