The Golden State Warriors have begun their rebuild following the departure of franchise legend Klay Thompson.

The team has signed veteran and reliable wing Kyle Anderson, who spent the past two seasons with the Western Conference finalist Minnesota Timberwolves.

The 30-year-old will sign a three-year contract worth $27 million, and the Dubs will be sending a future second-round pick swap and cash to the Timberwolves as part of a sign-and-trade deal, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Anderson averaged 6.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game while playing 22.6 minutes per contest across 79 regular season games in 2023-24, making ten starts.

The 6-foot-9 player is also a naturalized Chinese citizen and represented China in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Warriors acquisition part of plans to sign Lauri Markkanen

The Warriors' acquisition of Anderson and former Philadelphia 76ers player De'Anthony Melton is part of their move to boost their roster as they aim to lure Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen.

The 2023 NBA Most Improved Player and All-Star is now the franchise's number one trade target after the team failed to acquire Paul George and retain Klay Thompson.

Anderson and Melton are two great role players on team-friendly deals that allow the Bay Area squad to make further moves this offseason. They are projected to be under the luxury tax threshold for the first time in four years.
