The Philadelphia 76ers are already acquiring important pieces while pursuing Paul George.
The team has secured a trio of free agent signings: big man Andre Drummond and point guard Eric Gordon, and retained wing Kelly Oubre Jr.
Drummond was the team's first signing when free agency opened on June 30 at 6 PM ET, inking a two-year deal worth more than $10 million for his second stint.
The 30-year-old center previously spent the first half of the 2021-22 campaign in Philly before being traded midseason as part of the James Harden deal.
The Sixers also signed veteran point guard and sharpshooter Eric Gordon to a one-year veteran's minimum contract worth around $3.3 million. This deal reunites the 35-year-old with Sixers President Daryl Morey from their days with the Houston Rockets.
Shooting guard Kelly Oubre also got a nice pay hike following a solid campaign, staying with the team on a new two-year deal worth $16.3 million after being on a veteran's minimum contract with the Sixers last season.
The Sixers already building pieces for 2024-25
The Sixers entered the offseason with a projected salary cap space of $62 million, which they are already starting to fill up.
The team's main offseason target is former Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George, who is set to leave California after not agreeing on terms for a new deal with the Clippers.
With more signings ahead, including a likely maximum rookie extension for star guard Tyrese Maxey and a pursuit of Klay Thompson on the horizon, the Sixers could transition from a team under the salary cap to possibly becoming a luxury tax-paying team.
