Much has been said about the Los Angeles Lakers drafting Lebron James' son Bronny at no. 55 in Thursday's NBA Draft.

However, none of them matter now as Bronny is now a Laker and has already chosen a jersey number, something a legendary Laker is happy about.

Bronny's jersey number is #9, which used to be worn by Nick Van Exel, who took to X to give his stamp of approval.

"Let's gooooooo!!!" said Exel.

Exel was drafted by the Lakeshow in 1993 and played there for five years. He made the All-Star Game selection in 1998.

Lebron came across Exel's post and saluted the former Lakers star.

Many NBA fans accuse the Lakers and Lebron of nepotism, but some voices beg to differ or do not see anything wrong with it.

Exel is among those who, on the draft night, commented that what took place was not new.

"Folks acting like this don't happen every single day in this world. Lmao. Congrats. I can name PLENTYYYYYYYY!!!!!! In a bunch of dif professions," he wrote.

Other NBA players and media personalities have the same opinion, labeling it as a historic moment.

Among them are Lakers legend and NBA great Magic Johnson, Chicago Bulls' Zach Lavine, Chris Paul, and Ja Morant.

Lebron and Bronny became the first father-and-son duo to play in the NBA simultaneously.
