WWE: Roman Reigns Father and Hall of Famer Sika Anoa'i Passes Away

WWE Hall of Famer Sika Anoa'i, best known for being one-half of the legendary tag team The Wild Samoans during the 1980s, passed away on Tuesday, June 25. He was 79.

Anoa'i's nephew, Jairus Anoa'i, announced the news via Instagram.

"It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of WWE Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa'i. He passed away peacefully on June 25," the statement read.

The Wild Samoans, consisting of brothers Sika Anoaʻi and Afa Anoaʻi, also competed in other promotions such as the New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, and various independent circuits throughout their nearly two-decade career.

They won the World Tag Team Championship three times during their tenure in the WWE and were inducted as a tag team to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007. 

Sika Anoa'i is Roman Reigns' father

Anoa'i is also known for being the father of Roman Reigns, arguably WWE's biggest superstar for the past decade. 

Sika last appeared on WWE programming alongside Afa during the Hell in a Cell 2020 event when Reigns defended the WWE Universal Championship against Jey Uso.

The three celebrated one of the first title defenses of Reigns' legendary 1,316-day reign as world champion, which ended at WrestleMania 40 on April 7.
