Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White could be in for a highly eventful summer.

On the verge of winning his first NBA championship with the Celtics holding a 3-0 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals, the 29-year-old could add a medal to a ring.

White is being considered to be added to the United States men's basketball team that will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris if Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard does not recover in time from his knee inflammation.

Leonard missed the regular season's final weeks and only played in two of their six playoff games due to the injury.

In addition, White will be entering the final year of his contract in the 2024-25 season, and the Celtics are aiming to lock him in on a contract extension, according to league insider Adrian Wojnarowski during the pre-game broadcast of Game 4 of the 2024 NBA Finals on Friday, June 14.

Derrick White has Team USA experience

White has experienced playing in national team colors, as he was part of the Team USA roster that competed in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Coached by San Antonio Spurs' Gregg Popovich, the team finished seventh place in the tournament.

If White does make the 2024 Olympics team, he will be the third Boston Celtics player on the roster after Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday.
