Several Kansas City Chiefs players are embroiled in controversy this offseason following their second consecutive Super Bowl win.
Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs is accused of animal cruelty to dogs after allegedly leaving his pets without access to food and water for at least ten days.
The 27-year-old surrendered to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Thursday, May 30, following the issuance of two misdemeanor warrants for second-degree cruelty to dogs or cats.
Buggs was processed and released after posting a $600 bond, and he is scheduled for a court appearance on June 13.
Authorities received a report alleging that two dogs were left on the back porch of a residence rented by Buggs on March 28.
Police and animal control officers found a gray and white pit bull and a black rottweiler. According to a neighbor, the dogs were deprived of food or water for at least ten days.

Upon leaving the jail, Buggs declined to respond to a reporter's inquiry and departed in a truck, as ESPN reported.
Isaiah Buggs' agent denies animal cruelty allegations
Meanwhile, Buggs' agent, Trey Robinson, has refuted the accusations against his client.
"Under no circumstance does Mr. Buggs condone the mistreatment of any animal. The dogs at issue did not belong to him, and he was unaware they remained at the property in question," the statement read.
Robinson claimed that Buggs had been detained twice in the past two months without public records, alleging that this was part of the city of Tuscaloosa's conspiracy to shut down his business, Kings Hookah Lounge.
