Former NBA star Paul Pierce had a bold opinion regarding the frequent comparisons between fellow Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird and Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić.
During a FOX Sports' "Undisputed" appearance with hosts Skip Bayless and Keyshawn Johnson, the 46-year-old was adamant that Bird is still better and that comparisons should stop.
Pierce stated that while Dončić may be the better scorer and ball handler, Bird excels in shooting, passing, speed, and basketball IQ.
"[Doncic] could win a championship this year. He's on his way to being an all-time great. But we're talking about one of the Top 5 or 10 players to ever play the game. Can Luka get there? Numbers-wise, he's on his way. But Bird, three straight MVPs. He changed the game. He made us watch basketball," the 2008 NBA Finals MVP stated.
Pierce also pointed out that Bird had already won an NBA championship by his second season in the league.
Paul Pierce compares Luka Doncic to another NBA legend
Instead of Bird, Pierce likened the Slovenian's game to another NBA legend.
"He's probably like a European LeBron James. The way he can score, the way he can pass, the way he rebounds the ball, the way he controls the game... just a less athletic LeBron," Pierce declared.
James holds an 8-6 record over Dončić in career regular-season games, and they haven't met in the postseason.
