Mick Schumacher could return to Formula 1 as early as next season.

The son of seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher has been out of the world's premier racing series after a largely unremarkable two-season stint with the Haas F1 Team from 2021 to 2022.

The 25-year-old currently drives in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Alpine in the Hypercar category, and he could make a return to F1 via the French outfit as he continues to impress in the endurance series.

"He's one of the possibilities for sure. Like many, like many. Mick is doing an incredible job in endurance. What is very impressive is his mindset," Alpine F1 Team principal Bruno Famin said about Schumacher's chances of taking one of Alpine's F1 seats in 2025.

Aside from driving for Alpine in endurance racing, Schumacher is also the reserve Formula One driver for Mercedes and McLaren.

Mick Schumacher's forgettable Formula 1 stint

Mick Schumacher made his F1 debut in 2021 with significant attention due to his father's storied name.

However, the Haas VF-21 of that season was indisputably the worst car on the grid, and the Swiss-born German driver finished 19th, second to last, just above his Russian teammate Nikita Mazepin.

Pressure increased for Schumacher in his second season as Haas delivered an improved car in 2022, but he was involved in many costly crashes, which dented Haas's limited budget amid the cost cap.

He finished that season in 16th place, below his new teammate Kevin Magnussen, who finished 13th. Schumacher was replaced by Nico Hulkenberg in 2023.
