Scuderia Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz Jr. addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding his contract for the 2025 season.
The Spaniard remains without a confirmed agreement for 2025 following his impending departure from the Prancing Horse team after 2024. He will be succeeded by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz provided an update on his prospects for the 2025 season during a media session on Thursday, May 16, ahead of the 2024 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
"When I have it, you'll know," the three-time Grand Prix winner stated.
When pressed for more information about the status of his 2025 contract, Sainz hinted at a pessimistic update.
"I think so, yeah. It's not moving too quick," the 29-year-old added.
Carlos Sainz Jr. given a deadline by Audi
Amidst persistent rumors of his potential move to Sauber, which is set to become Audi's works team in 2026, the team reportedly seeks a prompt response.
Audi has given Sainz until the Monaco Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday, May 26, to decide whether he will join them.
However, former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner believes that Sainz will not decide until either Red Bull and Mercedes have finalized their moves for 2025.
Sainz recently won the 2024 Australian Grand Prix. Throughout the 2023 season, he stood out as the only non-Red Bull driver to claim a race win, which he achieved at the Singapore Grand Prix.
