Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards reportedly made a bold statement to a Nuggets locker room staff during their Game 5 loss to the Denver Nuggets, which put them on the brink of elimination.
After the Timberwolves forced a decisive Game 7 on Thursday, May 16, with a 115-70 Game 6 win at home, Edwards confirmed the alleged rumor when a reporter asked about it in the post-game conference.
"Hell yeah! They know. Y'all was in there. Yeah, I told them, 'I'll see y'all motherf**kers for Game 7,'" the 22-year-old responded to the reporter.
The all-or-nothing Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at the Ball Arena in Denver.
ESPN reporter Dave McMenamin initially shared the story in a social media post after Game 5 last Tuesday, May 14, in Denver.
Anthony Edwards was lights out in Game 6 vs Nuggets
With their season on the line, Edwards delivered when his team needed him most, especially on their home floor.
The two-time NBA All-Star put up 27 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in 33 minutes of play. The Atlanta native had a plus-minus rating of +43, the highest in Timberwolves playoff history.
Edwards' stifling defense of Nuggets star Jamal Murray was also instrumental in halting Denver's offensive schemes. The Canadian was held to 10 points on 4-of-18 shooting from the field.
