The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves Western Conference semifinals will go down to a winner-takes-all Game 7 after Denver was blown out in Game 6, 115-70, at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 16.
Nuggets star Jamal Murray admitted that closing out the series was a difficult task, especially considering that the Timberwolves were determined not to concede with their season on the line.
"Speaking from experience, Game 6 is always the hardest. That team is gearing up to not get eliminated, and they bring their right energy. They came to play today," the 27-year-old told the media in the post-game press conference.
Murray had a subpar performance in Game 6, contributing to their loss due to a lack of firepower and the Wolves' stifling defense.
The Canadian point guard only scored 10 points on a dismal 4-of-18 shooting from the field and 2-of-7 from three. He added two rebounds, five assists, and two steals in 32 minutes of play.
Jamal Murray hurt elbow during Game 6
Murray revealed that he injured his elbow during a screen in Game 6, and Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards's relentless defense only exacerbated his struggles.
Despite the application of numbing cream, Murray's injury did not improve throughout the game.
The injury hindered his ability to fully extend his arm during his shooting motion, making it difficult for him to perform effectively.
