With the WNBA 2024 season tipping off just recently, the race for the Most Value Player award has already commenced.
Last season, New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart won the award, beating out A'Ja Wilson and Alyssa Thomas to take home the honor.
Although it is extremely early into the WNBA season, here are some favorites to take home the award.

A'Ja Wilson, Las Vegas Aces
Currently, Aces forward A'ja Wilson is a strong favorite for the MVP award, and her past performances justify this anticipation.
Wilson is the best player on the best team in the WNBA. Las Vegas are amidst an incredible run of dominance, winning back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023 behind Wilson's elite play.
That trend will likely continue based on A'Ja Wilson's play during the WNBA Tip Off, dropping 30 points and 13 rebounds against the Mercury.
Many voters felt that Wilson was snubbed from the award last season, and this may be the year she reclaims the award.
Breanna Stewart, New York Liberty
After joining the New York Liberty last season, Breanna Stewart embarked on one of her best seasons in the WNBA; which was capped off by Stewart winning the MVP for the second time throughout her illustrious career.
Now, she comes in second-best to win the award amongst many oddsmakers.
The question is, can she do it again?
Stewart's chances of going back-to-back are very likely as talented as she is. There has only been one player to win back-to-back MVPs in WNBA history, that being Cynthia Cooper-Dyke in 1997-1998.
One shouldn't sleep on Breanna Stewart's chances of winning the award again, especially if the Liberty have another great season.
Alyssa Thomas, Connecticut Sun
A season after losing All-Star center Jonquel Jones, Alyssa Thomas has stepped up to be the force keeping the Connecticut Sun championship aspirations alive.
Last season was one of the best of Thomas' career. She finished with career highs across the board, averaging 15.5 points, 7.9 assists, and 9.9 rebounds per game.
Alyssa Thomas managed to steal the thunder away from Caitlin Clark's regular season debut by dropping a triple double Tuesday night.
At the age of 32, Thomas is still one of the best in the league and has a valid chance to steal the MVP award if she can continue her high production play.
