Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns' girlfriend, model and socialite Jordyn Woods, honored the center's late mother, Jacqueline Cruz, during Mother's Day 2024, which coincided with Game 4 of their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Denver Nuggets.

Town's mother, Jacqueline Cruz, passed away from complications from COVID-19 during the onset of the pandemic in April 2020.

Woods made sure to honor Cruz while she was in attendance at Game 4, wearing a Timberwolves jersey with "Jackie" on the back and the infinity sign in place of the jersey number.

Unfortunately, the Timberwolves lost to the Nuggets in Game 4, 115-107, with Towns struggling with 13 points on a measly 5-of-18 shooting from the field. He added 12 rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Towns and Woods began their relationship in May 2020, one month after the death of Cruz, and they bonded over the Wolves star's grief.

Cruz was 59 years old at the time of her death, and she had been in a medically-induced coma for two weeks before her demise.

Karl-Anthony Towns was deeply affected by COVID-19

The four-time NBA All-Star revealed in October 2021 that he lost a total of eight family members due to COVID-19, including his mother.

The 7-foot center himself also tested positive for the virus in January 2021, but he was able to pull through, albeit losing 50 pounds after his bout with the disease.

Towns' father, Karl Towns Sr., also tested positive for COVID-19 at the same time as his mother during April 2020, but he survived.
