The Atlanta Hawks are set for an exciting offseason following their success in the NBA draft lottery, securing the first overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
The news undoubtedly brought joy to Hawks shooting guard Dejounte Murray, who openly expressed his excitement about the development.
"NBA OFF SZN Bouts To Be Crazyyyyyy!!!! Lol," the shooting guard posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday, May 12.
The team defied the odds by winning the 2024 NBA draft lottery despite being projected to have only a 3 percent chance of securing the top pick.

Atlanta concluded the 2023-24 regular season with a 36-46 record, securing the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference. However, their postseason bid ended with a loss to the Chicago Bulls in the play-in tournament.
Hawks finally win first overall pick after a long time
The Hawks haven't secured the first overall pick in a while, last doing so in 1975. They also picked first overall in 1952 and 1955 when the team was still based in Milwaukee.
This upcoming selection will be their highest pick in the 21st century, with their previous highest pick occurring in the 2005 NBA Draft, when they selected Marvin Williams with the 2nd overall pick.
The team's recent loss in the play-in tournament certainly helped, as only the 14 teams that did not make the 2024 NBA Playoffs were eligible for the draft lottery.
