The New York Knicks have felt the absence of OG Anunoby, who was out in both Games 3 and 4 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals playoff series against the Indiana Pacers in the 2024 NBA playoffs due to a left hamstring strain.
However, it appears unlikely that the 6-foot-7 player will return soon, as Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau provided a dim update.
Anunoby is still unable to engage in running activities; instead, he has been limited to "just pool work," according to the 66-year-old tactician during a pre-game press conference ahead of Game 4 on Sunday, May 12.
The British player sustained the injury during the third quarter of Game 2 of the series, in which the Knicks emerged victorious to take a 2-0 lead. Since then, the Pacers have managed to stage a comeback and win Games 3 and 4 in Indianapolis, tying the series at 2-2.

The Knicks have posted a solid 26-5 record with Anunoby this season, compared to a struggling 13-16 without him.
Knicks' OG Anunoby Injury Status
With Thibodeau's statement, it seems highly unlikely that Anunoby will be able to play as the series heads back to New York for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, May 14.
Anunoby has been undergoing treatment on his hamstring two to three times a day.
The 2023 All-NBA Defensive Second Team member was possibly having his best game as a Knicks player before sustaining an injury. In Game 2, he scored 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting, grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, and recorded one block.
