With the NBA Draft Lottery coming up this weekend, several teams around the league will await their fate this offseason.
These four teams will have the best odds at coming out of Sunday with the No.1 overall pick in this year's draft.
Still, even with a lackluster draft class, many experts are saying there are reasons to be optimistic for any team with the No.1 overall pick, potentially taking the foundation piece on their way to be contenders.

Detroit Pistons
Record: 14-68
Lottery Odds: 14.0%
Last season did not go the way the Detroit Pistons had hoped.
After bringing in Monty Williams, who had great success in Phoenix with the Suns, as their new head coach; the Detroit Pistons took a significant step backward in the 2023-24 season, becoming historically one of the worst teams in NBA history.
During the season, Detroit had held one of the longest losing streaks in NBA history with 28 losses and finished the season with a dubious 14 wins, making them the worst in the league.
It's clear that the Pistons need a lot of help, so the addition of another No.1 pick along with their former No.1 pick Cade Cunningham and solid young core in Jaden Ivey, Ausar Thompson, and Jalen Duren could help Detroit reach its potential. All of these players showed off some talent this past season and another piece could bring them one step closer to being a team Pistons fans want to cheer for.
Washington Wizards
Record: 15-67
Lottery Odds: 14.0%
Like the Pistons, the Washington Wizards were at the bottom of the league as well.
The Wizards fully embraced the tank last season, trading franchise star Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns to kick off their lengthy rebuild.
And now they are among the four teams with the highest odds to take the No.1 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Washington traded for Jordan Poole, who many thought would have been a franchise cornerstone for the Golden State Warriors after showcasing immense potential with them.
Poole's play in his first season in D.C. left little to be desired, as he led the Wizards to a plummeting season and some bad losses.
If rewarded with the No.1 overall pick, the Washington Wizards will finally have a chance to turn their fortunes around and begin putting the pieces together to build a team that could potentially be a contender in the league for years to come.

Charlotte Hornets
Record: 21-61
Lottery Odds: 13.3%
After a rough 2023-24 season, the Charlotte Hornets again find themselves in the lottery.
Last season was rough for the Hornets, as the team was decimated by injuries, including their star point guard LaMelo Ball, who missed 60 games.
The franchise moved on from long-time stars such as Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward, and P.J. Washington, leading them to ultimately fall in the NBA standings, likely picking high in this year's draft.
There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the Hornets, they have four franchise pillars in LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges. All have shown they can be great players who could help Charlotte eventually become contenders.
Pairing them with a possible franchise-altering player with the No.1 overall pick should make them formidable for the following season to come.

San Antonio Spurs
Record: 22-60
Lottery Odds: 10.5%
After selecting Victor Wembanyama, the No.1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs are back in the lottery mix with yet another chance to take a star to pair with the French Phenom.
This past year, Wembanyama was electric during his rookie season. However, his excellent play didn't translate into wins and the Spurs found themselves on the bad end of quite a few losses.
If the San Antonio Spurs get the No.1 overall pick again, they will have the opportunity to match Victor Wembanyama with another youthful star, potentially making one of the best young tandems in the league.
