The Minnesota Timberwolves are evoking damage in the 2024 NBA Playoffs with their stifling defense and the emergence of Anthony Edwards as a bona fide star in the league.

After the team's sensational first-half performance in Game 2 of their second-round series against the defending champions Denver Nuggets, NBA legend Kevin Garnett boldly compared this Timberwolves team to the Golden State Warriors dynasty.

"This is the defensive version of what the Warriors did for offense when the league wasn't ready! Defense that sells tickets!?," the Hall of Famer posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

It is well known that the Warriors started an offensive revolution in the league during their emergence, resulting in four NBA titles.

Garnett was also known for his defensive intensity during his playing days. He spent most of his career with the Timberwolves, where he holds franchise records in almost all of the major categories, including points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals.

The Wolves led the league in several defensive categories in 2023-24, and they are riding their stellar defense into the postseason.

Nuggets make embarrassing history

The Nuggets had no answer for the Wolves in Game 2 of their Western Conference Semifinals series, which was held at the Ball Arena in Denver on Monday, May 6.

The Wolves dominated, leading 61-35 at halftime, setting the largest halftime home playoff deficit in Nuggets history.

The 26-point deficit is also the largest in NBA history by a defending champion on their home court.
