Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards received a controversial technical foul during their Western Conference semifinals series opener against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, May 4.

The 22-year-old was issued the technical foul with over a minute left in the third quarter of the game after staring down Nuggets guard Reggie Jackson following a layup over him.

A day later, the league seemed to believe that the harmless play was not warranted to be called a technical foul.

"The NBA announced that Anthony Edwards' technical foul from the third quarter in Game 1 was rescinded," NBA reporter Dave McMenamin of ESPN posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Fortunately, the technical foul did not impede the Timberwolves as they secured a statement Game 1 victory, defeating the Nuggets 106-99 at home in the Target Center.

Edwards scored 43 points on 17-of-29 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal in 42 minutes of play.

TNT broadcast also in disbelief over Anthony Edwards' technical foul

Just as Edwards was stunned by the technical foul against him, NBA analysts Jamal Crawford and Reggie Miller expressed their disbelief during the TNT broadcast.

"We're in the second round of the playoffs. Emotions are always gonna be high," Miller said in the commentary booth.

"That's awful. You can't celebrate someone for being a dog and then we call a technical on a staredown," Crawford added.
