Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has returned to the team after a one-year absence, signing a one-year deal worth up to $3 million.

However, the 28-year-old will be looking a bit different this time around.

The team announced that Elliott would be donning the number 15 this season, departing from the No. 21 he wore during his first stint with them.

The running back previously wore the No. 15 during his college career with the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2013 to 2015 and during his only season with the New England Patriots in 2023.

Meanwhile, former third overall pick and Cowboys backup quarterback Trey Lance will move from No. 15 to No. 19 to accommodate Elliott's choice.

Skip Bayless slams Ezekiel Elliott signing

FOX Sports analyst Skip Bayless criticized the Cowboys' signing of Elliott, notably after they failed to select a running back in the seven rounds of the 2024 NFL draft.

"It was a PR move to placate Cowboy Nation - 'Zeke's back!'," the controversial television personality said.

Elliott spent the first seven seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys from 2016 to 2022, establishing himself as one of the league's best running backs. He topped the league in rushing yards and garnered All-Pro selections in 2016 and 2018.

However, the team released him after his performance declined in the latter stages of his first Dallas stint.
