The controversy surrounding former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling will be dramatized in an upcoming series.

Sterling, who was recorded by his mistress/personal assistant making racist remarks, faced a lifetime NBA ban, and his actions ultimately led to the sale of the franchise to Steve Ballmer.

"Clipped" is scheduled to be released exclusively on Hulu on June 4, and a teaser trailer for the series was released on Thursday, April 24.

The six-part limited series has received NBA approval, as it prominently features the league's logo and likeness.

This contrasts with the critically acclaimed HBO show "Winning Time," which was based on the 1980s Showtime Lakers but did not secure approval even from the Lakers.

The series stars Emmy and Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburne as head coach Doc Rivers and Ed O'Neill as Sterling.

The trailer showcases on-court action with actors portraying Clippers players Chris Paul, Matt Barnes, Jamal Crawford, JJ Redick, DeAndre Jordan, and Warriors players Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala.

Presumably, the scenes are set during the Clippers-Warriors 2014 Western Conference first-round series, when the controversy came to light.

Fans react to "Clipped" teaser trailer

Fans had mixed reactions to the series trailer, with some noting the cast's lack of resemblance to their real-life counterparts compared to "Winning Time."

Nevertheless, some were also eager to see an exploration of the controversy and what truly transpired.
